In our popular Patio Style Challenge series, we saw a few particular trends pop up in our guest bloggers’ spaces. One of those trends: pergolas! Here’s a round up the terrific pergola ideas from our talented guest contributors.
Above, Lesley Graham added a sleek and slim pergola to her renovated modern farmhouse home. We love the two-tone look she created by pairing stained wood boards with white horizontal ones. Plus, the gold joist hangers are a fancy detail.
Lindsay, of The White Buffalo Styling Co., created a bohemian oasis with a gorgeous pergola, all from a very blank slate. Granted, Lindsay and her husband have been renovating their cottage bit by bit over the past year and a half, but this backyard transformation is quite impressive.
We love the way Lindsay defined the overall space with chipped gravel. She then created three distinct areas in the backyard, perfect for entertaining. There’s a lounge area underneath the pergola, a fire pit and two Adirondack chairs off to the side, and a large rectangular table with plenty of seating.
Pattern, pattern and more pattern! Jen Stagg, of withHeart, not only decorated her space from top to bottom, she basically restructured it.
Jen and her husband re-stained the existing deck, built a pergola, and added in a bunch of DIY projects just for good measure.
We love the way Jen added vertical interest to her deck design, the pergola and tall outdoor curtains (made from drop cloths!) draw your eye up and create a really cozy space for entertaining.
A pergola naturally creates a sort of outdoor room, but Stephanie, of the blog Glitter & Goat Cheese, took her pergola design to the next level when she hung a bright blue chandelier in the center!
Stephanie was able to create a cozy space that feels like an outdoor living room. Stephanie completed the look with string lighting, lots of plants, a hanging herb garden and a DIY tray to serve guests. That’s quiet a living room if you ask us.
What do you do when you’re faced with an empty backyard and a desire to get outside and enjoy it? Do what Joni Lay, of the blog Lay Baby Lay, did! Joni and her husband set out to build a pergola space in their blank backyard, but not just any pergola. It’s a dreamy backyard destination, perfect for family picnics and afternoon snuggles with their two precious kids. Of course, the space wouldn’t be complete without Joni’s DIY touches and pastel palette.
