Katy Byrne from DBK: Designs By Katy needed to spruce up her front porch for fall.
It was a great opportunity to get her involved in our Halloween and Harvest Style Challenge series here on The Home Depot Blog. We sent her some Halloween and fall decorations from The Home Depot to get her started. She did the rest.
I was excited for the opportunity to revamp our front porch which was not particularly inspiring.
Thankfully the Halloween and Harvest challenge came around and gave me an opportunity to create a fall front door display and generally give the front porch a little TLC.
The most obvious first need was to refinish the front porch. I powerwashed the wood and painted the small deck area to match the remainder of the house.
From there, I took a cheap alternative to de-brassing the front screen door by painting the kick plate and door handle with spray metallic bronze paint.
While the paint was drying, I grabbed my gardening gloves to pull the weeds and replace the very old mulch with new mulch.
With the deck is freshly painted and surrounded by clean flower beds, it was time to add the finishing touches.
I have always wanted some tall planters to fill the empty space by our door. I was thrilled to find these modern looking planters from The Home Depot.
Now, throw in some pretty fall colored blooms and fill in with pumpkins: Voila! The perfect porch for fall.
Thanks so much, Home Depot, for including me in the Halloween and Harvest Challenge.
