Christmas gift wrapping ideas are one of my favorite things about the holidays. I love to spend time wrapping each gift with love, and I love the way beautiful gift wrapping looks underneath my tree all season. I’m always thinking up new ways to adorn my gifts for the holidays, and this is one of my new favorite Christmas wrapping ideas. These tassels take only a few minutes a piece to make, and they look fabulous on top of elegant wrapping paper.
How to Make Tassels for your Christmas Gift Wrapping
Skill level: Novice
Time: About 15 minutes for each tassel
Cost: Less than $10
- string, yarn, or orange mason line (also available in yellow, white, pink and green)
- small square of cardboard, about 5-8 inches long
Begin by wrapping your twine around your piece of cardboard. You want to wrap your yarn about 30 times or so, or until you have a generous amount of twine. The more twine you wrap around your cardboard, the thicker your tassel will be.
Once you have enough twine wrapped, carefully slip it off of the cardboard. You want to keep the twine neat, so be gentle.
Next, tie a small piece of tie around your bundle. Slide the knot until it’s perfectly centered.
After you’ve done this, cut the edges of each side so that the loops are now fringe.
Fold bundle in half and wrap twine around the top until its very tight. Secure with a knot.
Trim fringe until it is mostly uniform in length.
Attach the tassels to your gift wrapping by slipping a piece of twine or ribbon through the top loop. This is a fabulous way to add a bunch of color and some fun texture to a gift!
