Bringing greenery inside is a terrific way to give your Christmas decorations a natural look. Brandi, author of the lifestyle blog Don’t Disturb This Groove, has so many great Christmas decorating ideas using evergreen sprigs she can make greenery a major element in her holiday decor.

She’s sharing her holiday decorating ideas and DIYs as part of our ongoing Holiday Style Challenge series here on The Home Depot Blog. We sent Brandi, along with several other talented bloggers mystery boxes of Home Depot Christmas decorations. The bloggers used those decorations to get their homes ready for the holidays and shared their decorating tips and ideas with us.

Brandi created a festive look for her home that’s full of nature’s beauty and lovely blue and gold accents. She shared with us, too, her simple and practical DIY ideas for holiday decorating.

I’m absolutely thrilled to be apart of this year’s Home Depot Holiday Style Challenge! Christmas is an entire month of decorations, presents, food and family. Like so many of you, I love this time of year.

I think about how I’d like to decorate for Christmas all year long. This year I decided to decorate our dining room in blue, gold, and silver, with neutral wood tones and lots of greenery.

I recently repainted the main level of our home a favorite neutral of mine. It’s the perfect backdrop for my holiday decorations.

I always wished we had a fireplace in our house so that I could decorate the mantle each season. No mantle = no place to hang stockings! As an alternative, I created a blanket ladder using this tutorial with materials purchased from Home Depot. The stockings are filled with cuttings from a small evergreen tree.

I decorated my console table with two Scalloped Rim planters that I spray painted black and filled with evergreen sprigs and ornaments for a festive look. I added the unique twig candle holder (no longer available) from Home Decorators Collection because of its rustic beauty.

I’m sentimental and save every greeting card I receive. As I was going through a few, I decided to create a way to display my holiday cards. My husband and I took on the challenge to build a simple picture frame. We saved time by having the wood pre-cut at The Home Depot. Later I stained it, then highlighted the details with gold paint.

I love receiving Christmas cards from friends and family. It’s so nice to have a way that they now can be easily seen. In the background, you can also see the beautiful champagne glitter wood curl trees that were included in my mystery box.

For easy and inexpensive decorating, I love bringing the outdoors in. I lightly spray painted a few branches silver, then arranged them in a vase filled with white mini LED lights. I love the warm glow it casts in the room.

Our dining and living room are one big open space. To create a cohesive look, I transformed our coffee table by filling our tray with ornaments, ribbon, candles and more greenery. The DIY candle holders were created from aluminum sheets cut to size. They’re so pretty when lit.

One of my favorite projects was a tree I created using Ryobi Wood Biscuits. I stumbled across the container and was immediately drawn to the leaf shaped biscuits. I simply attached the biscuits to a craft cone with hot glue. Next I painted the tree green and accented each leaf with gold paint.

I purchased the Napoli Planter and filled it with two small trees. I covered the exposed dirt with ornaments and lights. The trees are delicate so I added battery-operated LED wire lights. I love the sparkle!

A kiss on the cheek under the kissing ball. My children are teenagers now, but they still get just as excited at Christmas as they did when they were younger.
